Congressman Doc Hastings blames the Obama administration for delaying implementation of new trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea. Hastings says tree fruit growers have lost millions of dollars over the past 20 years because of the stiff 20 percent tariffs slapped on exports to Columbia alone.
Hastings remarks follow Wednesday's announced implementation of the Columbia Free Trade Agreement. He reports that growers are already benefitting.
According to the Washington State Apple Commission, Columbia is a major export market with over 500 boxes being shipped there annually.
