Some fire crews who have been battling the Crane Road Fire, located across the Columbia River from Pateros, will be sent home soon. The fire started Wednesday afternoon burned seven outbuildings on the first day of the fire, and while some homes were threatened none were lost. Incident Information Officer Dan Garner says the 12 thousand acre plus blaze is expected to be declared fully contained within the next day or so.
Garner says at six a.m. Monday there will be a transition down to a smaller organization. He adds a strike team of engines will be kept on hand for a little while longer with the weather forecast calling for thunderstorm activity Monday.
