The search for a man last seen Thursday afternoon on the North Shore of Lake Chelan continues today. Chief Mike Harris with the Chelan County Sheriff's office says 30 year old Kyle Jaynes was staying at a cabin at Canoe Creek, about three miles down Lake from Lucerne when he told people he was going out to relax and read a book. His book was found on a flat rock about 75 yards uplake from the Canoe Creek dock. A search in and around the area by family and friends failed to locate Mr. Jaynes. Chelan County Search and Rescue personnel, Deputies and a search dog searched the area on the ground Friday and the Chelan County Helicopter began an aerial search. As of ten o'clock this morning Mr. Jaynes had not been located. Harris says Jaynes is described as an experienced hiker who is familiar with the area which has steep terrain going away from the lake.
