CLE ELUM, Wash. (AP) - A fire spokesman says a fast-moving wildfire has burned 40 homes across about 23 square miles of central Washington grassland, timber and sagebrush. Washington Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark Grassel says fire commanders estimate the Taylor Bridge Fire has burned at least 15,000 acres since it started Monday afternoon east of the town of Cle Elum. Fire officials say more homes are burning and threatened. So far, no injuries have been reported. By late Monday, Grassel said the fire had burned to within about six miles of Ellensburg. Crews had stopped its forward movement, although it is not contained at all. The Kittitas County sheriff's office warned those in the fire's path to evacuate. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
