Kittitas County Undersheriff, Clayton Myers says the fire has scorched over 26-thousand acres and destroyed over 60 homesThe fire forced the closure of Highway 97 between highway 10 and highway 970 through the Cle Elum area. The Red Cross has set up emergency shelters at Central Washington University and in Cle Elum at the Centennial Senior Center. The Kittitas Fairgrounds has been established as a temporary shelter for livestock.
