Chelan County Search and Rescue Deputies, Cascade Ambulance medics and Chelan County Fire District 3 personnel were busy Saturday responding to three separate rescue incidents. Sergeant Kent Sisson with the Chelan County Sheriffs Office says a little before 10-30am officials were called out to help an injured para-glider on Tumwater Ridge above Leavenworth. Sisson says the 29 year old Leavenworth woman crashed shortly after launching and hit a tree.
Sisson says the woman, whose name was not immediately available suffered non-life threatening injuries to her hip and back and was taken to Central Washington Hospital for treatment. A little before noon, Search and Rescue coordinators received a report of an injured hiker at the bottom of Asgaard Pass in the Alpine Wilderness southwest of Leavenworth. Sisson says the 53 year old woman had fallen and hit her head while traversing a boulder field. She was helicoptered out and then taken to Central Washington Hospital. Her name and status were not immediately available. To cap it off, deputies and Cascade medics helped a 63 year old man who received minor injuries while riding a motorcycle off-road in the Mad Lake area north of Maverick Saddle. Sisson says the Search and Rescue deputies have been very busy this Summer.
