Sparked by Taylor Sparks, the Wenatchee AppleSox won their 5th WCL title in 13 years Saturday with an 8-3 win over the Covallis Knights. Sparks went deep in the fourth inning and tallied three RBIs in the final game of the year. The deep Sox pitching staff featured strong performances from Derek Callahan who got the win, allowing seven hits, one walk and three runs in six innings. Tony Bryant came on in relief and gave up just two hits and no runs while striking out four in two and two-thirds innings of work. The Applesox 13th season was also a "lucky" one for the team who set a record at the gate with more than 44 thousand paid attendance.
