Nine people were hurt this weekend following a four motorcycle-one vehicle accident on Highway 28 Saturday afternoon, a few miles east of East Wenatchee. The state patrol says the motorcycles were eastbound around 3-30pm, when a westbound station wagon slowed to make a left turn into a private drive. To avoid colliding with the car, the motorcyclists laid their bikes down on the highway. According to the Patrol report, the driver of the car was not hurt. Two passengers were hurt, but not transported for treatment. The drivers of the four motorcycles, 62 year old George Campbell of Spokane, 60 year old James Ryon of Liberty Lake, 36 year old Bobby Lee Byrd of Kennewick, and 26 year old Thomas Jagger of Richland, were taken to Central Washington Hospital, as were three passengers on their bikes, 68 year old Susan Denkhaus of Newman Lake, 56 year old Shaun Campbell of Spokane and Karen Byrd, 42 of West Richland. Their status was not immediately available.
