08/28/12 Chelan County Noise Ordinance Public Hearing (AUDIO)
Chelan County Commissioners still aren't sure about amending their recently revised noise ordinance but they did open the floor to concerned county residents during a public hearing Monday. KPQ's Shawn Goggins has the report. . .
Commissioners are considering a provisional change which would grant an exemption for the use of amplified sound coming from an event by way of a special use permit. The proposed exemption comes at the request of several businesses and organizations who use loud sound for certain activities or events . The ordinance currently makes exceptions for regularly scheduled community events. . .Link Transit trolley bells . . .sounds from construction activity between the hours of 7a.m. to ten p.m. and agricultural activities. There's been concern about whether the new provision would overcomplicate the ordinance. The board will resume its public hearing on the matter next Tuesday at 2p.m. in the Chelan County Commission chambers.
