09/10/12 Canyons Fire 6pm Update

More than 30 residents of Number 2 Canyon west of Wenatchee have been put on notice. Sergeant John Kruse says the Canyons Fire was last estimated at 860 acres Monday afternoon, but was continuing to grow. About 160 firefighters have been battling the blaze that started Saturday night. Kruse says the blaze, one mile west of Wenatchee, appears to be in close proximity to the Twin Peaks fire to the west. 32 homes in Number 2 Canyon above the Gun Club and in Sties Canyon Road are under a level two evacuation. One home is under a level three evacuation order.  Homes along Number One Canyon Road west of Sage Hills Drive remain under a level three evacuation notice. Areas between Surry Road and Sage Hills drive that were under a Level three evacuation notice are now at Level two and Level one evacuation status levels.
