09/18/12 Barker Canyon Fire Takes Livestock Toll (AUDIO)
The Barker Canyon Fire has apparently taken a toll on livestock in Douglas County's north end. The blaze which is now almost fully contained has consumed thousands of acres of rangeland and County Commissioner Steve Jenkins says cattle herds have been affected.
The Barker Canyon and Leahy Fires have blackened over 81-thousand acres of land between Leahy Junction and Coulee Dam. The fire is now in mopup and all evacuations have been lifted.
