OMAK, Wash. (AP) - A wildfire burning on the Colville Indian Reservation east of Omak has burned across more than 15 square miles and threatens more than 50 homes.
Fire spokeswoman Janet Pearce says the St. Marys Mission Road fire has burned across more than 9,600 acres and is 15 percent contained.
More than 460 firefighters are on scene. The fire that started Tuesday has burned two homes and eight other buildings. Pearce adds that Governor Gregoire has extended the burn ban for all of Eastern Washington until Midnight Sunday. That ban prohibits all outdoor burning.
