FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Fairbanks Ice Dogs scored three goals over the final eight minutes and 20 seconds of regulation Friday to hand the Wenatchee Wild their first loss of the season, 5-3.
The Wild got off to a strong start Friday, owning a 1-0 lead 98 seconds into the first period on Blake Roubos' second goal of the season.
After the Ice Dogs took a 2-1 lead Wenatchee responded with a pair of goals in the third period from Max McHugh and Noah Nelson.
With the Wild seemingly in control, the Ice Dogs managed on to score three goals down the stretch to win the West Division contest, 5-3. The Wild (8-1) will square off against the Ice Dogs again Saturday night. Faceoff is at 8:30 p.m. Pre-game on KYSN 97.7 FM begins at about 8:25 p.m.
