10/8/12 New Fires Suppressed

Two new wildfires were put out over the weekend in Chelan County. Both were human-caused. Mick Mueller with the Wenatchee Complex Fire says the first fire was reported Sunday afternoon and was located on Dead Man Hill in the Cashmere/Dryden area. Chelan County Fire District Six firefighters were able to put that one out.

Mueller says the second fire was sparked by target shooters in the Mud Creek area in the Entiat Ranger District of the Okanogan/Wenatchee National Forest.

Mueller reminds residents that a burn ban is still in effect and that seasonal road closures are also being extended due to the tinder dry conditions and continuing threat of wildfires.

Mueller says the fire was put out after burning about 125 acres of extremely dry brush. 60 firefighters were pulled off the Wenatchee Complex Fire to respond to the Mud Creek fire along with a helicopter from the St Mary's Mission Fire to assist with bucket drops.
