Wenatchee Valley residents stepped up to the plate this weekend to help feed those in need. John Wagner, director of operations for the Lighthouse Christian Ministries says the first ever canned food drive Friday and Saturday at the Wenatchee Wal-Mart parking lot was a huge success.
Wagner says truckloads of canned food, and several hundred dollars were donated. That will be put to good use. Wagner says they offer three meals a day, six days a week at their south Wenatchee location, plus a Sunday brunch.
Members of the Columbia River chapter of the Harley Owners Group also helped with the food drive in addition to holding their annual toy run Saturday to help the Marine Corps' "Toys for Tots" campaign.
