Grant County PUD customers in the northern part of the county experienced a power outage recently due to what officials say appeared to be metal theft from electrical equipment. Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones says metal thefts from utilities is on the rise across the country. Jones says "by members of the community partnering with us we are able to take action against thieves who put their lives and public safety on the line for scrap metal".
