Authorities have released the names of the two men who were killed yesterday when their ultralight aircraft crashed near Waterville. Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal identified the pilot as 58 year old Robert C Lyons of Chelan. The sheriff says Lyons was on a training flight out of the Chelan airport with a student pilot identified as 39 year old Jason L. Escapule from Princeton, Idaho. Both men were killed when the small open-cockpit plane crashed in a wheatfield near the small community of lamoine northeast of Waterville. Jerry Ripley was an eyewitness to the crash and was first to respond to the crash scene . .
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
