One man was wounded in an officer involved shooting Saturday in Okanogan County. Okanogan County Undersheriff Joe Somday says the incident started around nine a.m. Sergeant Tony Hawley attempted to pull over a driver going over the speed limit in Okanogan. The driver sped off. The pursuit ended when the vehicle went off an embankment in the Dry Coulee area, landing on its top. Somday says as Sergeant Hawley approached the vehicle the driver, identified as 27 year old Neil S. Mix of Okanogan, pointed a shotgun at the officer and fired a round. Sergeant Hawley returned fire, hitting Mix. Mix and his female passenger were taken to a local medical facility for treatment. Mix is also wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place last month. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the officer involved shooting.
