Congressman Doc Hastings wants the Forest Service to do a better job of preventing future wildfires in his Central Washington District. Hastings sent a letter to U-S Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell advocating for better forest management practices including salvaging fire-damaged timber from this summer's wildfires.
Hastings claims the Federal government has failed to implement policies that clearly support forest management practices such as salvage timber sales. Hastings comments come in the aftermath of a series of summer wildfires that scorched tens of thousands of acres of timberland in Central Washington.
