11/21/12 PUD Gets Update On Local Earthquake Potential



The Chelan PUD is touting the structural soundness of its dams in the event of an earthquake.

Commissioners received an update on our area's earthquake potential and how it affects utility owned dams along the Columbia River during a regularly scheduled commission meeting Monday.

Based on the information presented by Safety Project Manager Bill Christman, Commissioner Norm Gutzwiler says the PUD's dams are sturdy enough to withstand most earthquakes
 


 

Chelan PUD hydroelectric projects include Rocky Reach, Rock Island and Lake Chelan dams.
