WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Wenatchee Wild scored two first-period goals Friday en route to a 3-1 victory over the Fresno Monsters at the Town Toyota Center.
The Wild wasted little time getting on track Friday and held a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Defenseman Dillon Eichstadt lit the first lamp of the contest with 7:29 left in the first period when he scored on a one-timer from the point. Jono Davis gave Wenatchee a 2-0 lead 82 seconds after Eichstadt’s goal.
The Monsters cut the Wild lead in half 87 seconds into the second frame. Chris Kerr tacked on an unassisted empty-netter for the Wild with less than a second remaining in regulation to close out scoring.
Wild netminder Robert Nichols made 16 saves on 17 shots to earn his 11th win of the season.
The Wild (15-3-1) will try to sweep the Monsters Saturday. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Pre-game on KPQ begins at about 6:45 p.m.
