Authorities say a Bridgeport man was arrested Monday after he received a parcel from California containing 2 pounds of marijuana.
Douglas County Undersheriff Don Culp says detectives were contacted on November 28th by a Narcotics detective from the Visalia California Police Department regarding a suspicious package that he discovered at a sorting terminal of a commercial package delivery company.
Culp says the detective forwarded the package to local detectives who in turn obtained a search warrant for the Bridgeport address. .
Culp identified the suspect as 22 year old Ranferi S. Torres. He faces charges of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver. Torres was booked into the Okanogan County jail and the marijuana was recovered. The estimated value of the marijuana is approximately $7,000.
The shipper's address was found to be fraudulent.
