12/06/12 No Grace Period For Pot Smokers Caught in Public (AUDIO)
Depending on where you live in Washington State enforcement of the new marijuana legalization law could differ. Steve Hair reports . .
The Seattle Police Department has told officers they should only issue verbal warnings in cases of public marijuana use "until further notice." Police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee wrote on the SPD Blotter that officers will be advising people to take their weed inside. Wenatchee Police Sgt John Kruse says there is no grace period here. Kruse says officers will also be on the lookout for impared motorists whether they are drunk or stoned. The new law only allows you to purchase marijuana from state licensed outlets. But, Kruse says police won't cite you for possession.
