Officials with the State Patrol are reminding people heading up to Stevens Pass ski resort that parking on the highway is illegal. Trooper Darren Wright says at times last season traffic congestion because of people parking on the shoulder of State Route 2 was so bad that if needed at DOT plow truck or emergency workers would have had a difficult time getting through the congestion.
Parking on the shoulder of state highways is only allowed in an emergency. Wright says going skiing does not qualify and if you do, you are subject to a $124 dollar fine and the possibility of your vehicle being impounded.
