Starting April 1st the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce will officially take over tourism promotion duties from the Wenatchee Visitors and Convention Bureau. The Wenatchee city council Thursday night voted to allocate 100 percent of available hotel-motel tax funds collected after April 1st to the Chamber. A number of agencies applied for portions of that money, however Councilman Mark Kulaas says it made more sense to have one agency receive the funds.
Kulaas says the hotel-motel tax dollars for the nine month period of 2013 starting April 1st are estimated at $270,000.
