The Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area on the Chelan Ranger District opened for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing today. Forest Service officials say due to the recent snow fall, Echo Ridge is opening almost a month earlier than last season. Ski passes are required for both ski and snowshoe trail use. Day passes are available on-site for $10 per adult, with no charge for skiers or snowshoers age 17 and under. Forest Service officials say in conjunction with the opening of the ski area, there will be limited road closures to wheeled vehicle to provide Nordic grooming activities and limited snowmobile access.
