Former city dwellers who've relocated to rural Chelan County should not expect the same level of public services such as snow removal.
Commissioner Doug England says its the code of the west that the county ascribes to . .
The Code of the West has been emulated in other rural states. In Colorado's Latimer County the code says "even though you pay property taxes to the county, the amount of tax collected does not cover the cost of the services provided to rural residents. In general, those living in the cities subsidize the lifestyle of those who live in the country by making up the shortfall between the cost of services and the revenues received from rural dwellers."
