Good news for most of the people in the Lake Wenatchee area who've been without power for nearly two weeks. Chelan County PUD spokesman Steve Lachowicz says electric service has largely been restored in the Plain-Lake Wenatchee areas. Work continued today primarily with rebuilding the system along the south shore of Lake Wenatchee where an estimated 79 customers were still without power this (fri) morning. Work also continued on another key distribution link in the Beaver Hill area south of Plain.
Chelan County PUD fiber crews have also been able to complete repairs on major damage to the fiber line in the Beaver Hill area near Plain today. An estimated 565 customers were back on line by this afternoon. Lachowicz says crews will continue to make fiber repairs, trying to connect larger groups of customers where possible. He says fiber repairs often take longer than electrical repairs because one line may need to have 144 individual splices made on the strands within the cable. Additionally, the electrical service must be working in order for the fiber system to be available.
