12/29/12 Wenatchee Wild Beat Brown Bears Saturday

Wenatchee Wild head coach Bliss Littler promised his team would be better in the second game of this weekend’s 3-game series against the Kenai River Brown Bears after a 5-3 loss Friday in the first game of the series. He was right. The Wild scored three first-period goals Saturday and never looked back, earning their 22nd win of the season with a 5-2 victory.

The Wild took a 3-0 lead Saturday before the 3,407 fans in attendance even had time to settle into their seats. Josh Hartley (Coquitlam, British Columbia) scored Wenatchee’s first goal 3:54 into the contest when he tickled the twine on a wrist shot from the near point after David Powlowski (Rochester, N.Y.) won a faceoff in the Kenai River zone. Blake Roubos (Niagara Falls, Ontario) also assisted on the scoring sequence.

The Wild (22-4-2) and Brown Bears will take the day off Sunday before concluding their 3-game series on New Year’s Eve Monday. Faceoff is slated for 6:05 p.m.
