More than 50 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan Counties during a recently completed DUI emphasis patrol. Last year nearly 100 people were arrested for DUI during the same six week period.

In North Central Washington the Brewster, East Wenatchee and Wenatchee Police Departments, the Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan County Sheriff's offices and the State Patrol participated in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Campaign. The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Commission officials say the Holiday season is an important time for these patrols, given the number of Holiday festivities that often involve alcohol.
