A car theft suspect was arrested Thursday following a high-speed pursuit along Highway 97-A north of Wenatchee. Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett says it started yesterday morning when his office was notified by a Wenatchee business that a female had attempted to cash counterfeit checks. When Chelan County deputies arrived they learned that the vehicle the female suspect left in had been stolen out of Wenatchee.
The woman was arrested after a State Fish and Wildlife officer spotted the vehicle and followed it to a location just north of the Knapps Hill Tunnel where it stopped. The suspect was arrested and is now in custody. The investigation continues. No formal charges have been filed yet.
