Work to restore fiber optic service to residents on the south shore of Lake Wenatchee won't start until sometime in Mid-March and could take three months. Mike Coleman, Fiber and Telecom managing director for the Chelan County PUD says that includes a six week bidding period to either choose a company to do the work, or decide to do the work in-house.
Coleman says the work will restore service to about 60 (64) PUD customers who have been with fiber optic service since mid-December storms toppled hundreds of trees into power and fiber optic lines. Another three dozen (38) fiber optic customers should have their service restored in a week or two. Coleman says most of those are unoccupied vacation cabins. He says the priority has been to restore service, when possible, to residential homes first. A community meeting to answer questions and outline next steps is set for noon next Saturday at the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club.
