From a Press Release - A Wenatchee resident discovered she was being burglarized early on the morning of October 17, 2017 when she saw the crime occurring on a security camera she had installed at her residence in the 700 block of South Miller Street in Wenatchee. The victim in this case had previously been the victim of burglaries where her ex-boyfriend was the suspect. She recognized the burglar as her ex-boyfriend Nathaniel R. Gregg, 33, now a Quincy resident on camera and immediately called 911. There was also an active Anti-Harassment Order in place banning Gregg from her property or from having any contact with her.

When officers arrived, they found Gregg just outside the detached garage behind the victim’s house. Officers took him into custody and located a loaded .40 caliber pistol inside his jacket. When the serial number of the pistol was checked, it was found to be stolen. In fact, it had been stolen from the same victim in 2016 in a previously reported burglary.

Gregg was transported to Chelan County Regional Justice Center where he was booked for Violation of a Harassment No Contact Order, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

The story does not end there, however. The victim called back to report a vehicle parked across the street from her residence that she did not recognize. She also stated there appeared to be property from her garage in plain view inside the vehicle. Officers returned to the scene and found a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV that was registered to a person in Quincy. Quincy Police Department went to the owner’s address where they learned the vehicle had been stolen by Gregg. Gregg was an ex-boyfriend of the victim in Quincy as well. During his booking, officers discovered two credit cards belonging to the Quincy victim on his person.

The vehicle was impounded for a search warrant. During the service of the warrant, detectives recovered property stolen from the October burglary and property stolen during a burglary in July of 2017 to the same residence. All stolen property including the vehicle was returned to the victims.

Additional charges of Burglary 1st Degree – Domestic Violence, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and three counts of Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree were added for Gregg at Chelan County Regional Justice Center where he remains pending further court appearances.

This case is an example of the potential value of surveillance cameras. Here, a person who had been victimized multiple times by the same suspect was able to see the crime occurring and call for Police. It is also typical of some domestic violence situations where the party involved is unable or unwilling to stay away once a relationship has ended.
