The Senate unanimously passed 12th District Senator Brad Hawkins Senate Bill 5158, legislation to implement the Electric Utilities Wildland Fire Prevention Task Force recommendations for wildfire prevention.

"This bill is important to the state, but especially the 12th District where we have four different public utilities and unfortunately, a history of devastating wildfires," said Senator Hawkins.

The legislation now heads to the House of Representatives. The bill was approved 46-0 in the Senate.

"With that type of support, I think the bill is well positioned for the House," said Hawkins.
