The 2021 Washington State Apple Blossom Festival Royalty Selection Pageant was held Saturday night at the Numerica Performing Arts Center. Although the event was mainly held virtually due to the pandemic, dozens of supporters joined the hundreds of cardboard cutouts in attendance.

Eastmont senior Brooke Perez was selected from among ten royalty candidates as the 2021 Apple Blossom Queen. She said she was shocked at how it all unfolded.

"I was so surprised." smiled Perez, "I couldn't believe that I was actually Queen. I have been working so hard for this moment and it finally paid off and I get to represent the Wenatchee Valley!"

Perez was also given the Most Photogenic Award.

Wenatchee student Kody Richards was named as one of the festival's two princesses. She also took home the Achievement Award.

"It was really overwhelming. The whole three weeks and the whole day went by so fast. Then, when they called my name, it felt like the day was finally here and finally real. It was just crazy," said Richards.

Princess and Wenatchee student Kamryn Fowler said her favorite part of the night, other than when her name was called, was meeting all her friends, family, and supporters immediately after her selection.

"I'm buzzing with excitement right now because this room is just full of positive energy and vibes. It's so fun!" exclaimed Fowler, "I love just seeing the smiles on everybody's faces."

Fowler also earned the Community Involvement Award.

Candidate Sophia Hernandez won Most Original Speech while Olga Murillo took home the Congeniality Award.

The 102nd Apple Blossom Festival is April 22nd through May 2nd, 2021.
