A Facebook message is asking parents and kids to keep their heads up after an intense fire completely destroyed the Almira elementary/middle school, about 85 miles east of Wenatchee Tuesday night.

The school has called off classes for Thursday and Friday, and arranged to have counselors available for students and staff who are trying to cope with the situation.

Almira elementary/middle school classes will be held online next week before moving to makeshift in-person locations in Almira and Coulee City the following Monday.

The school says it hopes to have portable classrooms in place for all grade levels within three months.

The plan for in person learning begins October 25:

Preschool, 3rd, 4th, and 5th at the Almira Community Church.

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades at the Almira Community Center.

Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th in Coulee City.

The end of the Facebook post from Almira Elementary And ACH Middle Schools read, “Keep your heads up…we will get through this together. WARIORS STRONG!”

More than 100 students are enrolled in the elementary/middle school
