The Supper Bowl Food Drive, sponsored by France & Co., was stationed at East Wenatchee's Grocery Outlet from 10-1 on Saturday to benefit Wenatchee Lighthouse Ministries.

"I was looking for an organization I could partner with that puts back into the community, that really supports the community and Lighthouse really stands out for that," said Kathy La Force, Grocery Outlet owner.

Shoppers were able to support Lighthouse Christian Ministries by loading up on extra items for their Super Bowl spread to share or make a monetary donation. There were discounts on certain items that the Lighthouse Ministries Soup Kitchen had on its grocery list, since the kitchen serves up 14,000 meals per month.

"The energy out here is incredible. There's a lot of givers in this community, everybody wants to give," said La Force.

For Wenatchee Lighthouse, mid-winter can see a decrease in supplies and the annual Supper Bowl provides relief to the organization that helps feed the community.

"It was an amazing day, a lot of people actually came out," said Shawn Arrington, Lighthouse pastor and general manager. "Instead of just getting one or two bags, they were pulling out whole carts of food. This [the Supper Bowl] sometimes supplies up to 75-90% of our canned food for the first part of the year."

Those that still want to donate to Lighthouse Ministries, which serves 14,000 meals per month, can drop off items to donate at Grocery Outlet, the organization or mail them to 410 S. Columbia.
