Folks interested in a career as a mariachi instructor have through Sunday to get their paperwork submitted to Eastmont School District.

Assistant Superintendent Matt Charlton said the district is looking to expand its mariachi program by hiring a full-time instructor that would teach 7th-12th graders at both the junior high and high school.

"They have to have a teaching endorsement, so we need a certified teacher." Charlton said, "We would prefer someone that has a mariachi background or has a rich musical experience that they can bring and apply to this kind of unique position."

The position could pay as much as $92,000 annually.
