The Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA) is opening the application process for nonprofits and fiscally sponsored arts organization suffering financial strain as a result of COVID-19.

The funding is provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and is distributed to state and regional arts agencies by the National Endowment for the Arts.

"It is a great opportunity and it is one of the only opportunities for arts and creative organizations around our state outside of King County,"  Karen Hanan, executive director.

The share that ArtsWa receives is roughly $450,000 and will be distributed throughout the state. There is no match requirement nor is there a specific project requirement for the application.

"Apply immediately because we have way more applications than we're going to have funding. That being said, it's a very simple application," said Hanan.

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis from now until May 31st.
