Big Bend Community College’s Center for Business and Industry Services and Grant PUD, national tech education provider, Black Rocket, are rolling out a youth virtual summer STEAM camp. Virtual Vikings Summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Camp is designed for kids ages 8 to 14 and kicks off July 6 through August 21.

"The goal behind it is to keep kids learning throughout the summer," said Tiffany Fondren, communications coordinator. "Also it's kind of a benefit because right now with much of the state shut down, traditional, in person summer camps have been canceled...this is one way to keep them connected with other kids."

The camp will offer weekly virtual classes led by instructors on topics like coding, game design and some courses touch on popular games like Pokemon.

The average cost of each class offered during camp is $149, however, the first 50 students to sign up will receive $50 off their registration. To register, visit Big Bend's website.
