Chelan County Fire District 1 responded to a structure fire at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The fire was off of Searles Road in Malaga.

"When fire crews arrived they found a garage detached from a single wide mobile home with fire along one side of the garage," said Chief Brian Brett.

Crews were able to knock down the fire to the exterior of the building with minor extension on the inside. According to Brett, occupants were alerted to the fire thanks to their two bulldogs.

"The bulldogs hang around this garage area where their food dishes are. The occupants were inside the mobile home and heard the dogs running into the back door in a way that was unusual," said Brett. "They got up and opened the door and noticed their garage was on fire."

The neighbors also had caught on to the fire and were in the process of calling it in. Everybody was safely evacuated from the home and the fire was contained to the garage.
