Although most National Forest campgrounds are still closed to camping, in the next few weeks campers can anticipate several campgrounds opening up.

Robin DeMario with the National Forest Service, says there is good news for campers who are ready to enjoy the great outdoors. "Most National Forests are still closed, but the good news for campers is that the Pine Flats Campground which is located about 14 miles up the Entiat Valley Road, will be open on April 21st." There are six individual walk-up sites, and a group site which may be reserved online through recreation.gov. Water is not yet available, but water systems should be operational in May. Outhouses are now open, and trash service is available.

There is also a large reservation site at Pine Flats Campground for groups of campers who are planning big activities for many people.

DeMario says two more campgrounds will be opening up the beginning of May. "We hope to have two other campgrounds open by May 6th, the Fox Creek and Lake Creek campgrounds which are located further up the Entiat Valley Road beyond the Pine Flats campground."

DeMario is reminding forest users to expect early season conditions such as muddy trails, and snow in shaded areas.
