Chelan County Natural Resources department has secured a grant for roughly $15,000 from the Rose Foundation for the Stemilt Partnership and its Sediment Reduction and Water Quality Education project.

"This is a grant...to work with Stemilt Partnership, which is a great community group, that has identified some work to improve wildlife habitat, increase water supply and provide recreational benefits up in the Stemilt Basin," said Chelan County Commissioner Bob Bugert.

Work for the project will get tackled in the spring of 2020.

This is the first time Chelan County has received a Rose Foundation grant. The Rose Foundation is based in Oakland, California and according to its site, supports organizations and initiatives that promote stewardship of nature.

"I have to really commend our Natural Resources department for being very adept at finding funds to carry out some good work in Chelan County," said Bugert.
