The Chelan-Douglas Health District has named Nathan Weed as their newest Interim Administrator with the hope he is needed no longer than 12 weeks though it's flexible.

Chelan County Commissioner Kevin Overbay says one of the benefits of Weed is that he's from the State Department of Health and they will cover the costs.

"We're at a point where we can look at what the needs are versus trying to deal with the pandemic. We've got that pretty much under control."

Weed has a background in infectious disease, epidemiology and public health preparedness and response both in Washington and elsewhere around the country.

Overbay says they were negotitaing with DOH on who they wanted.

"What we're looking to be able to do is over the course of between now and December 1 be able to stand up an interim director from the Department of Health who actually has a lot of public health experience and knowledge and to be able to stand them up in the role. It would be up to 12 weeks, it doesn't necessarily have to be the full 12; until we can get a director identified to take over for the health district."

Current Interim Administrator Bruce Buckles will take on the role of District Special Projects Coordinator.
