The Fall Chelan, Douglas Job and Resource Fair happens Thursday, October 24th at Pybus Public Market. Douglas County Veterans Services Officer Sarah Simonson says the event was started by Wenatchee Valley Women's Veterans as a way to help those who served, but also allow the public to see who in their community is a veteran.

"In a way trying to change the face of what you think of when you think of veterans. It's not just your Grandpa drinking coffee and shooting the breeze with his war buddies. It's your neighbor who served in Iraq and is now owning his own business."

Simonson also noted that while the event has a lot of help for veterans, the job fair portion is open to any job seeker that wants to attend, just be sure who come prepared.

"The best thing would be to show up expecting to get a job. Show up like you're showing up for an interview in nicer work attire, with your resume and ready to answer questions regarding why you want to be an employee at a certain place and what makes you a good candidate for employment at a certain place."

Simonson says you might not be hired on the spot, but you will conduct interviews and resources will be available to apply online as well should you need to, and the job fair has directly led to jobs. There will also be specific resources available for veterans who attend.

The job and resource fair will run from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
