Chelan PUD and Puget Sound Energy finalized a contract recently with the PUD responsible for supplying 5% of the output from both the Rock Island Rocky Reach dams. The five year contract is set from 2022 through 2026.

"The advantage to our local ratepayers is it provides some revenue through the sale with Puget Sound Energy and provides continued rate stability for our customers through those sales," said Neil Neroutsos, communications manager.

The PUD and Puget Sound Energy have had contracts together in previous years. Puget Sound Energy secured the contract following a competitive bidding process in the first quarter of 2021.

"It supports our overall power sales strategy moving forward and it also really enforces the value of hydropower in other parts of the state," said Neroutsos.
