Chelan PUD organized an effort among employees to cheer on Confluence Health employees at the 7 a.m. shift change on Wednesday. Roughly 30 employees from both Confluence Health and the PUD were ringing bells and waving signs to boost morale.

"Our hope is that this will have a ripple effect throughout the community," said Rachel Hansen, senior communications strategist. "Over the years, I've seen the people of North Central Washington rally around each other and really accomplish some amazing things."

Hansen suggests when kids pen a letter to Santa this holiday season to make a few thank you notes to healthcare workers as well. She adds folks can make it a simple gesture with sidewalk chalk to create a message outside of hospitals or long term care facilities.

Chelan PUD general manager, Steve Wright, and Confluence Health CEO Dr. Peter Rutherford were in attendance to cheer on employees. Signs and thank you notes will also be distributed at other local hospitals.
