An unknown number of chickens and goats were lost when a barn caught fire off Henderson Road in the Chelan area. The blaze occurred Sunday morning around 6:00 a.m. when Chelan Fire and Rescue were called to the building. There were no fire hydrants in the area, so firefighters had to haul 300 feet of hose through the snow in nine degree to try and battle the flames. Chief Tim Lemon said they were assisted by Manson Fire, home volunteers and three off-duty firefighters. The cause is under investigation.
