The Cold Springs Canyon Fire is at 50% contained as of Monday morning with 305 firefighters on scene in Omak. All evacuation levels have been reduced to Level 2, although remote roads remain closed due to hazards.

The fire is roughly 188,000 acres.

According to public information officer, Jeff Sevigney, firefighters are making good progress despite the smoky conditions in the region. The northeast portion of the fire, the Haley Creek area of the fire, has improved.

"Crews were able to do fantastic work, get that fire line in," said Sevigney.

Sevigney cautions the general public to stay out of the area.
