The Columbia Basin Foundation, a 24 year old community nonprofit, kicked off the 'Gather 5' campaign at the beginning of 2020 and has raised $126,000 for COVID-19 pandemic relief.

"We wanted to start a campaign, Gather 5, that we would be able to reach our community and ask them to consider us in their estate planning," said Corinne Isaak, executive director. "To name the Columbia Basin Foundation as that organization that would house those funds, ultimately distribute those funds forever."

The campaign asks community members to consider designating 5% of their estate to the foundation. An individual's legacy is then put toward the foundation's usage for charitable purposes and programs within the community.

"Our first funds went to all food banks in our service area, all senior centers in our service area and all chamber of commerces for small business support," said Issak.

Donors can give real estate, stocks, cash and other assets.
